Before the vows
Everyone warned me the day would go by in a blur. They were right. So I wrote down every small thing I never want to lose and turned it into this: a magazine about the best day of my life, for the person who made it that. From James

our first kiss as husband & wife
How it started

A friend's birthday, a crowded rooftop, and you telling me my playlist was a crime. Four years later you let me choose our first dance song. You approved it first. Twice.
Of all the rooms I ever walked into, you were the one that felt like home.

The question
and she said yes
December 2024, the lake house. One knee, shaking hands, and a ring I checked was still in my pocket eleven times on the drive up.
The day,
hour by hour

Coffee, nerves, and a text from you: see you at the end of the aisle.
Our first look under the old oak tree. I forgot every word I had practiced.
The ceremony. Your dad cried before you did. I cried before both of you.
Our first dance, under a ceiling of lights and a rain of white petals.
Sparklers, one last slow song, and your shoes in my hands.

The little moments
the ones nobody planned

The people who stood with us
Avamaid of honor, tissue keeper
Lily & Gracebridesmaids, dance floor queens
Carmen & Luisher parents, first to cry
Marcusbest man, ring guardian
Theo & Samgroomsmen, terrible singers
Helen & Roberthis parents, last to leave
and Max, ring bearer, retired after one aisle
Read at the altar
My vows to you
I promise to choose you on the easy days and the hard ones. To make your coffee the way you like it, even when I think it is too sweet. To be your safe place and your loudest fan, and to hold your hand when the world gets loud. And I promise to keep learning you, for the rest of my life.

Things only we will remember

Max made it halfway down the aisle, sat down, and refused to move. Best part of the ceremony.
Ten minutes of rain right before photos. You laughed and called it good luck. It was.
Three pages, two jokes, and one moment when the whole room went quiet.
We were supposed to cut it gently. You had other plans.

From the people who love you
I watched my little girl become a wife today. I have never been prouder.
Carmen, Sofia's momJames said he would marry her after their first date. We laughed. Nobody is laughing now.
Marcus, best manShe called me after that first date and said, I think this is it. She was right.
Ava, maid of honorOur first-year promises
To my wife
Sofia, the first time I called you my wife, I said it out loud just to hear it. I will probably never stop. Thank you for walking down that aisle toward me, for every yes that came before it and every one still to come. Whatever this life brings us, rain on the photos or a ring bearer who will not move, I want all of it, as long as it is with you. Happy wedding day, Mrs. Bennett. Let's go be married.
